British roots. Global vision. Universal appeal.

Both originating from the UK, and moving to the same leafy Brisbane suburb, we gravitated into each other’s creative orbit when mutual friends suggested “You utter film-nerds should meet!”. We bonded over a passion for action thrillers, body horror and Peter Sellers’ ridiculous accent in THE PARTY (‘Birdy Num Num!’), quickly realising that in our creative collaboration, one plus one often equals far more than just two. Our male/female dynamic brings authentic balance and nuanced perspectives that create richer, more compelling characters and narratives.

Pooling our talent and encyclopaedic knowledge of screen history, we then set to work creating our first project, supernatural/mystery HOPE FALLS. The series was quickly optioned, and this emboldened us to create a slate of whip-smart, compelling features and TV shows – our white-knuckle thriller BLACK NOISE explores Hyperacusis, a rare and fascinating hearing condition never seen on screen before. LOVE-HANDLE HIDEAWAY is another original take on a trusted format – what’s not to love about a reality dating show for sexy seniors, where the mobility scooter shed has been repurposed as the confessional booth?

Our approach to crafting projects is both precise and creatively fearless – grounded in the wisdom and gravitas that only life experience can deliver. We draw on decades of global screen storytelling, with the collective foundation of everything we’ve watched, studied and written. From this shared history, ideas are forged – and then relentlessly tested to destruction. Anything that doesn’t meet the INK & THUNDER benchmark is kicked to the kerb. What survives enters a rigorous process: brainstorming gives way to richly detailed character biographies, beat sheets, treatments and ultimately, water-tight scripts.

International Perspective

We both grew up in the UK, which has a long-standing reputation for prestige film and television. Being immersed in screen excellence has greatly influenced our writing style and high creative benchmark, which has been further enriched by Australia’s bold and inclusive approach.

Bringing together the distinct artistic sensibilities of the two hemispheres gives INK & THUNDER its unique global outlook, which informs every project we develop, guaranteeing our scripts have the commercial legs that modern producers demand. And our links to both countries opens the door for exciting co-pro possibilities.
